Butterfly Bush
Elusive beauty
how do I capture Thee?
Ruby wings etched with a golden rim
uneven lines and shapes-
an unimaginable, perfect
creation
rests in stillness
on an azure blossom
as lapis lazuli and sapphires.
Peaches and I
watch in wonder,
wait for the slightest
quiver.
Courageously,
she moves
gently, silently
as only a golden retriever can,
for a closer look-
one chunky paw
slowly
after another.
She stops,
rests her nose on top
of the Butterfly bush,
smells the sweet scent
arouses response.
Butterfly beauty
lifts in flight
flutters out of sight
as two companions
lost in contemplation
wish to be
a Butterfly Bush
like Thee!
