Are you present?

Today's reading in Streams in the Desert is the source of what I am prompted to share. At our Chapel Fellowship (coming up this Sunday at 10:00am at our home~ you are most welcome to worship with us), we've been looking at Moses and how God moved in patient and persevering ways to shape him into a humble, if reluctant servant. (Sound familiar?)

The Scripture cited in Streams, Exodus 3:1-2, reads like this: "Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up."
When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am."

Two things:
1. There is a burning bush near you, in your ordinary life~ no matter where you are~ even if you are on the far side of the desert (even more so.) Take your shoes off, He is near~ if you pay attention and watch  . . . saying here I am.

2. As you seek Him, life will begin to flame up in you!

Maybe right now you would like to prayer this prayer with me . . . and watch  flames of fire rise up  . . .

Maker of heaven and earth
as I seek You, face to face
in faith,
transfigure my life
by Your presence . . .
fill my soul
with the wine of your Spirit!
Intoxicate me
with Thee . . .
as I lean
into your heart,
and marvel
at Your beauty~
flood me with fluid radiance
rejoicing simply . . .
in knowing You.

Draw near my friends. In love I say, take your mental shoes off, wherever you are!
My prayer is that you can say truly say~ oh yes, here is the flame, here is the wine that satisfies, here is the life. . . . as near as my own breath.

"You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound."  Psalm 4:7
