Speaking of OPEN WINDOWS!

Hello friends, this blog is a bit out of the ordinary (much more personal) and not at all planned as a follow-up with the blog you just received. Yet, it occurs to me (with Don's full support) to share with you a GREAT EXAMPLE of CLOSED doors AND OPEN windows. (Nothing like the real thing to make something come alive!)

As most of you know, my husband, Don, resigned from North Coast Presbyterian Church in March, 2008. It was a difficult, even devastating time in our lives. Don had been diagnosed with the mood disorder, Bipolar (manic-depressive) (level 2, the lower level, thankfully).  This is a genetically predisposed brain disorder (Don's father is Bipolar). By the time he resigned, Don was stabilized on the proper medication and has been steady, consistent and diligent to take the needed lithium ever since to deal with this bio-chemical problem of the brain.

Don gives me full freedom to share this with you~ and encourages the honesty and transparency, as a matter of fact.

Since that time, Don and I have walked the walk of faith together step by step, day by day~ watching and waiting for God's perfect will for the next phase of our ministry together.

Together we have made all decisions and have learned, more than ever, to be in step with one another as we seek to be in step with our Lord.

Among other things~ including a Chapel Fellowship in our home (a "Trader Joes" approach to church :), Bible studies and more~  the Father has given to Don a HUGE HEART for those in the grip of addiction. This disease of the brain is also genetically predisposed. Those who are addicted have essentially restructured their brain and need compassionate help to get them into Treatment.

Don finished classes at UCSD in Intervention Studies and has recently completed three successful Interventions. We are humbled and thankful for this new avenue of service for the Kingdom~ a back door, to be sure, as Don is not there to push the Gospel but to live the Good News in front of those he serves. This is one of our missions for Hidden Life Ministries. As I said at the outset, God has a mysterious way of closing doors and opening windows~ all to His glory.

Do check out his new website:  http://www.sandiegointerventions.com/

And, of course, if you know anyone whose family is suffering due to an addicted loved one, you know who to call!

Grace and peace, Janie and Don
